Green Building Features
Energy Star Rated
Your New Home is Independently Inspected and Certified to meet EPA Energy Star 2009 standards
13 SEER Air Conditioning w/ Efficiency Heat Pump
SEER (seasonal energy efficiency ratio) is a measure of your central air conditioner’s energy efficiency. The higher the SEER, the better!
Energy Star Appliances
Your new energy-star rated Refrigerator, Dishwasher and optional washer are 20-70% more efficient than DOE minimum standard without sacrificing features, performance, style, or convenience.
Double-Pane Insulated Low “E” Windows
Low “E” coatings on your windows reflect heat back to its source resulting in an average energy savings of 11% during the heating season and 22% during the cooling season.
High Efficiency Insulation Package
Your New Home is insulated with R-13 fiberglass in the walls and R-38 in the attic. Attached garage ceilings are R-19, with Icynene below conditioned living areas. Fiberglass does not absorb moisture and maintains its insulating value over time.
Air Infiltration Features
Caulking and sealing around all doors, windows and other penetrable areas, as well as sill sealer and caulking of floor plates and corners reduces air infiltration and resulting excess energy costs.
Building Wrap Air and Water Barrier
Building wrap helps prevent water and air infiltration resulting in reduced energy costs year round.
Manufactured Wood I-Beam Floor Systems
All raw wood products are purchased in compliance with the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). Manufacturing, delivery and erection costs are all more energy efficient than standard practice.
Conditioned and Insulated Crawlspaces
(Avalon, Sea Isle, Chesapeake, and Brighton plans only)
State of the art conditioned crawl spaces benefit energy consumption, healthy, comfort and durability
Insulated Garages and Garage Doors
Attached garages only (optional feature for detached garages)
R410A Refrigerant
The R-410A refrigerant utilized in your HVAC system is non-ozone depleting and operates more efficiently and reliably.
Programmable Thermostat
Programmable thermostats can save an average of $180/year on heating and cooling costs without sacrificing comfort.
Carpet and Pad
The carpet in your New Home is manufactured in state of the art plants and the resulting product carries CRI’s “Green Label Plus” label. The carpet pad is “recycled and recyclable” and is also green label certified.
Low VOC Paints
Low “volatile organic compound” paints reduce emitted toxins and improve indoor air quality.
